Sometimes the Sh*t Feels Futile

I just spent the afternoon sick at work because of guilt and a lack of self-respect.

I was going down, man. How our self-hating society instills guilt in its workers while commissioning bus ads that say, "Stay Home If Your Sick!"

And an old saw I had took the opportunity to re-emerge, too. How our self-hating society takes our childhood years to teach us a lot of beautiful rot like algebra that only 1% of the population will ever use. So that as we are frustrated in our subsistence jobs, it's that much easier to construct a myth that it is us who has blown it.

Lucky my work buddy Shawn, who is made of awesome, turns to me and smiles and he says, "Thanks for hanging in there." The effect this had on me actually made me utter "Wow." later as I was thinking about it.
